Business Data Analyst Intern

USGBC has an opportunity for a currently-enrolled student to undertake a practical learning experience through an unpaid internship with its Business Intelligence (BI) team focusing on Enterprise Performance Management (EPM).

The Business Data Analyst Intern role will provide support to the EPM-BI and will report to the Director of EPM-BI who is responsible for USGBC’s BI vision and data integration strategy.

Internship details include:

  • Supporting the EPM-BI team in aggregating historical LEED/USGBC data stored in various data sources/platforms into a common database structure.
  • Analyzing the results of the aggregated data in order to provide improved business intelligence to internal USGBC stakeholders

Education & trainings requirements/preferences

  • Pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study (including but not limited to Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Math & Sciences)

Experience requirements

  • Previous work experience in team/office setting preferred
  • Experience in Congressional affairs or government operations
  • Experience in researching and communicating complex policy issues

  • Other required skills and qualifications

    • Commitment to USGBC’s mission
    • Demonstrated interest/experience in data analytics (in either an academic or professional setting)
    • Strong interest and understanding of data integration, reporting and analysis
    • Understanding of relational database concepts and how to build at least basic relational queries in databases such as Access or similar
    • Strong MS Excel skills
    • Understanding of the green building industry (LEED GA/ AP)
    • Experience with BI platforms (such as Tableau, Spot Fire, or similar)
