Organizational committees establish policy and guidelines, promote best practices, and implement goals for: Government, Chapters, Emerging Green Builders, Greenbuild, Education, Research, and Codes.
Organizational committees include between 7 and 11 members. Committees include both elected and appointed members, representing diverse member categories. Terms are set by the committee and are between one and three years, with term limits of no more than six years.
- Government Committee
- Recommends policies and programs to the USGBC Board for government, and serves as the clearinghouse between government and USGBC.
- Codes Committee
- Ensures compatibility between building regulations and green building programs to help accelerate the successful implementation of USGBC goals.
- Chapter Steering Committee
- Supports the growth and development of USGBC chapters; serves as the clearinghouse between Chapters and the Board and among chapters.
- Emerging Green Builders Committee
- Establishes a presence in educational institutions and the green building industry; increases opportunities for up and coming green builders.
- Greenbuild Committees
- Plan the theme, goals, and educational programming for the annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
- Education Committees
- Plan educational programs and outreach initiatives for all levels of education, and industry professionals to advance green building values, knowledge, and practice.
- Research Committee
- Develops strategies to disseminate research on greening the built environment; identifies research needs and encourages various entities to conduct and fund green building research.
