USGBC committees are made up of core working committees and larger members-only corresponding committees.
- LEED Subject Matter Experts – USGBC is looking for employees of USGBC member organizations with relevant LEED technical expertise to become possible LEED Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). LEED SMEs will not become official members of any USCBG committee, but they may assist the LEED Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) or other LEED committees in the improvement of LEED requirements and development of new credits. Applications received for LEED SMEs will be reviewed for possible participation on LEED working groups in the future. To be considered, please complete the LEED Subject Matter Expert Survey, outlining your expertise related to the various technical areas of LEED. Interested individuals may submit their information at any time for inclusion in our database.
- Location and Planning Technical Advisory Group (LP TAG) – The LP TAG is responsible for advising and making recommendations to LEED Committees, working groups, and the LEED Steering Committee (LSC) on technical issues; reviewing and assessing the consistency and technical rigor of credits and prerequisites; developing and modifying credits and prerequisites to be incorporated into LEED in line with the direction of LEED improvements as they relate to location and planning.
USGBC is seeking coverage/experience for the following areas:
- LEED for Neighborhood Development project experience and knowledge of the LEED for Neighborhood Development rating system.
- Infrastructure for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles.
- Parking design.
- Parking and land use zoning.
- Agricultural land conservation.
- Imperiled species protection.
- Wetlands and water bodies conservation.
- Steep slope protection.
- Visitability and universal design.
- Local food production.
Please note: The LP TAG seeks expertise in the above items as it relates to location and land use decisions for buildings and neighborhoods, not expertise in site design or remediation once those decisions are made.
Applicants must be employed by a USGBC member company. Candidates will be assessed on the following: practical experience with the application of LEED, especially LEED for Neighborhood Development; familiarity with the LEED development process; understanding of the changes in LEED 2009; and a working knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of LEED. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a creative multidisciplinary team of national experts, build consensus, and reach desired outcomes to agreed schedules. LEED AP status is desired.
To submit your candidacy for the LP TAG, please complete the Expression of Interest form. The Expression of Interest period closes on Nov. 20, 2009, at 5 p.m. PST.
