LEED Implementation Advisory Committee

The LEED Implementation Advisory Committee is a committee of the LEED Steering Committee (LSC) charged with assessing and recommending solutions to the LSC for review and approval. Its purpose is to advise on the scope, content and rigor of technical resources and tools supporting LEED programs, with the goal of maintaining LEED's integrity while also providing an effective, predictable and satisfying LEED customer engagement.

Responsibilities

The Implementation Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity to USGBC staff. The committee regularly coordinates with other LEED committees to uphold transparency, flexibility, feasibility and technical robustness in LEED development. Specifically, the Implementation Advisory Committee will:
  1. Provide feedback on and recommend improvements to reference guide content and other supporting tools and resources.
  2. Advise on LEED documentation and submittal requirements for project certification, ensuring that they are clear, objective, measurable, relevant and not overly burdensome to customers or reviewers.
  3. Advise on LEED Online features and functionality to help provide a smooth, efficient journey to LEED certification
  4. Recommend project-specific Credit Interpretation Requests that should be precedent-setting Rulings.
  5. Advise on Technical Advisory Group (TAG) recommendations for precedent-setting Credit Interpretation Rulings.
  6. Advise on program-level issues related to certification process.

Membership

The Implementation Advisory Committee is structured to represent all aspects of a customer’s journey to LEED certification through a membership that includes frequent users of LEED and others involved in the related issues. The Implementation Advisory Committee will consist of an odd number between seven and 15 members, all of whom must be employees of USGBC member organizations in good standing. In order to provide sufficient technical and practical application experience, each committee member must meet the following:
  • Have taken at least three projects through the LEED certification application process in a position of responsibility on a project team for most LEED credits.
  • Be a LEED AP or LEED AP Fellow.
