LEED Market Advisory Committee
The LEED Market Advisory Committee is a committee of the LEED Steering Committee (LSC) charged with advising staff and LSC on market-related issues. Its purpose is to advise on market transformation aspects of LEED in collaboration with USGBC staff, to ensure that LEED maintains leadership and continues to respond to the markets. The committee will apply its market experience and expertise to ensure that all LEED systems are feasible and flexible and represent leadership in the market.
Responsibilities
The committee regularly coordinates with other LEED committees to uphold transparency, flexibility, feasibility and technical robustness in LEED development. Specifically, the Market Advisory Committee will:
Review, evaluate and/or recommend the development of new LEED credits and prerequisites, Minimum Program Requirements, issues and other language for consistency, feasibility, flexibility, market suitability and brand integrity.
Regularly review LEED certification and registration statistics and other relevant information, to identify market opportunities, trends and barriers.
Regularly identify new market opportunities and significant market barriers for LEED, and develop recommendations for action, to be reported to the LSC.
Advise LSC on market priorities for LEED for action as needed.
Recommend the creation of task groups for market development and other activities needed to execute subcommittee's responsibilities. Review and evaluate the work of these task groups.
Collaborate with staff to provide forums for public input as regards LEED market sector issues.
Committee Membership
The Market Advisory Committee is structured to represent all aspects of the built environment through a membership of experts in market transformation strategies, LEED development, green building, and the building sectors represented in the United States. The Market Advisory Committee will consist of an odd number between nine and 15 members, who must be employees of USGBC member organizations in good standing.
