What are the USGBC Young Leader Awards?
The USGBC Young Leader Awards celebrate individuals between the ages of 13 and 25 who have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability and effected change in their schools, communities and beyond. USGBC seeks to honor five young leaders who are actively contributing to the sustainability movement.
USGBC and Youth Speaks Brave New Voices Green Team
Youth Speaks is a non-profit committed to shifting the perception of youth by combating illiteracy, alienation and silence and by creating a global movement of young people brave enough to take their voices to the stage. Since 2006, Youth Speaks has teamed up with the Robert Redford Sundance Preserve and the US Green Building Council to select a Brave New Voices (BNV) Green Team to speak on issues like climate change and environmental injustice.
In light of this partnership, the 2009 USGBC Young Leaders will work with Youth Speaks Green Team poets to continue the conversation about environmental issues facing their respective communities and move toward a common vision for a greener tomorrow.
