The LEED Pilot Credit Library is intended to facilitate the introduction of new prerequisites and credits to LEED. This process will allow USGBC to test and refine credits through LEED 2009 project evaluations before they are sent through the balloting process for introduction into LEED.
LEED 2009 project teams are encouraged to review the pilot credits currently available for testing, below. Teams interested in taking part in the pilot process must complete the project registration form.
In addition to completing the required documentation and complying with the requirements of the credit/prerequisite, LEED 2009 projects approved to participate in a pilot must also actively participate on related conference calls, provide thorough data on their use of the credit/prerequisite, and submit additional feedback as requested in a timely manner. Projects that successfully adhere to these parameters will be awarded 1 point under Innovation & Design Credit 1 or Innovation in Operations Credit 1.
The evaluation forms from all projects participating in a given pilot will be reviewed by a Pilot Working Group established by the LEED Steering Committee. The information will help inform improvements to the content of the credit or prerequisite or determine whether the credit is suited for introduction into LEED. For more information on the Pilot Credit Library please review the Foundations of LEED (PDF).
