USGBC is currently seeking an accounting professional to support the Finance Department with all duties associated with accounts payable.
The primary function of the Accounts Payable Specialist is to assist the Accounting Department by performing a variety of accounting duties as assigned. Associate, Chapter Leadership Development

The Chapter Trainings Associate is responsible for certain programmatic elements and logistics for chapter-related remote and in-person trainings including Greenbuild chapter programs, national and regional leadership retreats, in-person coaching, webcasts and others as needed. Training Program:

Communications Specialist
USGBC is seeking a dynamic and multi-faceted communications professional to serve as a Communications Specialist and provide dedicated account executive support for the marketing and communications needs of the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). This mid-level communications role will be responsible for overseeing, planning and executing GBCI’s marketing and communications plan, which includes marketing project management.

LEED Technical Customer Service Specialist
GBCI is currently seeking a green building expert to provide technical support related to the LEED Rating System.
The LEED Technical Customer Service Specialist serves as the technical building subject matter expert to inquiries received through GBCI’s customer service portals. This individual draws on cross-cutting advanced knowledge and direct experience with LEED Rating Systems to serve as a resource and problem-solver for technical issues pertaining to LEED.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Manager, Chapters Operations
USGBC is currently seeking a highly-organized operations professional with excellent project management skills to serve as the Chapter Operations Manager – an entry to mid-level managerial role responsible for managing operations for the Chapters team, which include budget tracking and management, project management for Chapters team initiatives, chapter-related reporting, and chapter compliance with USGBC requirements.
The Chapter Operations Manager manages departmental projects from inception through completion on time and on budget. The manager provides essential coordination with other USGBC departments on chapter-related initiatives, reporting, etc. Working with the Director of Chapter Resources & Administration, this position provides critical input in the evaluation of Chapters programs and of chapters and their sub-entities within the USGBC chapter network.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Manage annual budget, program and staffing plans in collaboration with senior Chapters staff
- Gather and evaluate data to verify chapters are operating in compliance with the current chapter charter as well as other USGBC policies and guidelines

Manager, GBCI Certificate Programs
GBCI is currently seeking a curriculum and test development professional to coordinate with key staff and committees regarding test activity; including the development and implementation of test security standard operating procedures and policies.
The Manager for Certificate Programs will work closely with the Test Development Director and the Vice President of Credentialing to manage and support the design, development, and administration of GBCI certificate programs. The Manager for Certificate Programs will be responsible for the coordination of certificate program content and scope with the current and planned credentialing programs to prevent duplication or overlap. The manager will work to promote the validity, quality and recognition of GBCI certificate programs from external sources when appropriate.

Manager, LEED Implementation
USGBC is currently seeking a green building professional with substantial LEED Rating System experience and expertise to support the management of new LEED programs and their comprehensive technical aspects.
The LEED Implementation Manager is an integral member of the LEED Implementation team, under the LEED Resource Development Division, directly reporting to the Director of LEED Implementation. Primary responsibilities shall include managing rollout support for new LEED programs, rating systems and associated certification processes, while ensuring all technical aspects are rigorous, complete, robust, and clearly defined for LEED customers. Activities may include, but are not limited to overseeing the development of targeted materials, information, workshops and trainings, publications, certification and accreditation adjustments, and volume program impacts.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- LEED Implementation – the following may be relevant to only one or a select group of credit categories and/or rating systems, depending on the employee’s background, technical experience and organizational needs:
- Essential member of the development team that manages the LEED certification submittal development and adaptation processes for volume and one-off programs that help accelerate LEED adoption and remain appropriate for the target market sector, including requirements and forms development for LEED Online v3.
- Oversee and partake in the development of LEED program-wide customer support materials such as reference guides, supplementary guidance documents, FAQs, and others as needed in response to new rating system releases and program improvements over time.
- Administer the development of targeted support resources that are essential to key portions of the total market, such as application guides and system requirements.
- Participate in the precedent-setting CIR assessments, processes and postings once received from LEED Maintenance Team.
- Cross-over with other Departments
- Act as liaison to at least one other department within USGBC and/or GBCI in preparation of a new LEED program roll-out; with emphasis on all key features and technical issues addressed, explained and emphasized.
- Advise Technical Development staff in the development and implementation of LEED rating system credits for one or more LEED market sectors to ensure credit requirements are clear, consistent and user-friendly, while optimizing LEED programs and policies.
- Consult LEED Maintenance Team in the management of addenda, updates, and substantial modifications and/or additions to reference guides and rating systems in response to stakeholder feedback; facilitate group discussions with stakeholders to develop needed improvements
- Advise GBCI staff and propose improvements to certification procedures to make the process more efficient and user-friendly, while maintaining program integrity.
- Consult appropriate staff on Maintenance Team, IT and subcontractors as it relates to program roll-out within LEED Online v3.

USGBC is currently seeking a green building expert with superior knowledge of broad technical systems and industry comprehension to support the LEED Resource Development team and the development of the LEED Green Building Rating System.
The MEP Engineer / Commissioning Specialist will serve as an in-house MEP subject matter expert for USGBC and its teams that develop and support the LEED Green Building Rating System. This individual will draw on detailed engineering knowledge and direct professional experience to help resolve issues in and optimize technical content of all LEED programs. The individual is well-versed in both standard practices and high-performance, market-leading industry practices in the commercial buildings sector.
The three essential characteristics needed are:
- Broad technical knowledge of building systems, assemblies, materials, and standards relevant to designing, installation, and testing of mechanical/HVAC systems, and ideally electrical and plumbing systems as well
- Business knowledge of market organizations, institutions, relationships, and practices, and the opportunities and constraints arising therein
- Problem-solving skills, including investigation, analysis, research, coordination, and final assessment

- Liaise with USGBC Research team, USGBC Education team, GBCI, LEED consultants, and other internal and external groups as needed
- Support technical issue resolution within LEED volunteer committees, e.g. Technical Advisory Groups, Implementation Advisory Committee
- Assist LEED senior management in developing and refining the strategic direction of LEED based on technical industry developments, market conditions, and political developments
- Maintain currency of expertise by staying abreast of new and developing industry issues and trends

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Minimum 6 years direct engineering field experience specializing in design, installation oversight, and/or testing of HVAC systems in commercial buildings. At least 3 years of direct responsibility for producing or signing off on formal project documents of record. Suitable candidates include HVAC designers, commissioning agents, or similar fields.
- Detailed technical understanding of and experience achieving compliance with common MEP engineering building codes and standards, e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62, ASHRAE 55, UPC/IPC 2006, California Title 24, IECC, IESNA.
- Types of work experience shall include determining end-use customer requirements, assessing optimum system and component design, performing load calculations, equipment sizing, developing efficiency requirements, estimation of annual energy and water use, producing system drawings and specifications, development of local manual, automatic, and/or supervisory controls, and development of operating manuals.
- Broad experience overseeing work in diverse types of commercial building design and construction, plus deep experience in the production of detailed technical documents of record of diverse types of engineering systems
- Knowledge of various government policies and programs related to buildings, e.g. EPACT, EPA Energy Star
- Excellent engineering judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills – knowing how much research or exploration of an issue is needed to form an acceptable solution, and which perspectives must be considered
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and on teams
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant engineering field is optional but can substitute for 2 years of the professional experience requirement.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Currently licensed Professional Engineer in good standing
- Engineering experience related to design, installation, and/or testing of electrical/lighting and/or plumbing systems
- Relevant experience in a variety of high-performance building projects, especially LEED projects.
- Specialization in a high-performance building attribute such as energy efficiency, water efficiency, materials efficiency, indoor environmental quality, etc.
- Advanced understanding and ability to review/analyze detailed energy models, energy audits, and building performance metrics.
- LEED-AP status
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite

SAP Technical Analyst
Will work with end users and partners to design and build SAP-ABAP system configuration of the business processes ensuring alignment with SAP-ABAP application best practices. Will be responsible for full life cycle implementation including analysis, design, development, testing and implementation; Will utilize experience in IDOCs, BDC, Smart forms and User Exits, SAP Reports, SAP Scripts, Dialog programming, and Interfaces and Tables. Responsibilities also include: assessing technical requirements and providing teams with technical guidance, utilizing experience with v4.6c, 4.7E and ECC 5.0 and functional knowledge in SAP MM, SD and FI modules. GBCI has an un-paid internship opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented statistics or economics graduate student with experience in institutional research and statistical data analyses to support its strategic planning efforts by participating in a comprehensive data analysis of its current credential holders.
The Data Analysis Intern will be responsible for developing insights from data and translating those insights into business initiative, conducting a series of regression and longitudinal studies to assist in forecasting exam demand, and working with our software company to create automated reports for continuous analysis.

USGBC has an opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented graduate student with experience in market research and a high degree of personal initiative to undertake an un-paid Market Research Internship in its Education Department.
USGBC Education develops and disseminates curriculum and training materials to help professionals across all market sectors build their careers in green building. To ensure that the education department’s products and services meet the needs of its target audiences, it is launching a comprehensive market analysis initiative. The intern will be responsible for supporting this initiative by undertaking an initial market assessment of target audiences for USGBC education products and identify potential market demand.
