Greenbuild 2010 Closing Plenary Keynote Speakers Announced!
When it comes to Greenbuild, the end is just the beginning.
Every year, our closing keynoters do more than just wrap up the conference – they set the tone for the year to come, inspiring our community to take the passion and the power of Greenbuild back to their cities and towns around the world. This year, that will be truer than ever as we welcome the Honorable Shaun Donovan and long-time Greenbuild favorite Paul Hawken to the Closing Plenary stage.
Current U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan will share his unrivaled expertise and insights that come from many years of public service. Secretary Donovan previously headed New York City's Department of Housing Preservation and Development and served as the Clinton administration's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing. In his current role at HUD, he is a true champion of green building and sustainable development at the federal level.
A pioneer of socially responsible business, Paul Hawken wowed Greenbuild audiences as a keynote speaker last time we were in Chicago, in 2007. With his return to Greenbuild this year, be prepared to leave Chicago truly fired up and ready to redefine the future. The first 5,000 attendees to arrive at the closing plenary will receive a copy of Mr. Hawken's ground-breaking book, The Ecology of Commerce: A Declaration of Sustainability.

Exhibiting Sustainably at Greenbuild
Greenbuild is one of the industry's greenest events, and we are continuously identifying ways to collaborate with Greenbuild attendees and exhibitors to effect real change in every aspect of the event. Greening the hospitality industry and greening the buildings industry are not separate goals – they are two missions that go hand-in-hand. Greenbuild's work within the conferences and events industry directly supports USGBC's broader mission. Greenbuild and its attendees are leading by example, and for the first time at Greenbuild, all exhibitors this year will be required to adhere to Greenbuild Mandatory Exhibition Green Guidelines (GMEGG).
So when you are in the exhibition hall this year, be sure to ask the exhibitors how their booth observes GMEGG. Exhibitors who go above and beyond GMEGG will be eligible for the Green Exhibitor Award. Last year's winners were Arizona State University, Cambridge, CH2M Hill, and PCD Engineering Services.
