Greenbuild 2010 is the event of the year for professionals across the residential sector, from developers, to state legislators, to Green Raters.

At Greenbuild's Residential Summit, the premier residential green building conference in the United States, the most pertinent and modern issues in the industry are addressed through sessions, discussions, and collaborations. Affordable housing, energy-efficient retrofits, and REGREEN are just a few of this year's topics. Affordable Housing Summit

The Affordable Housing Summit brings together leaders in the green affordable housing industry for educational sessions, networking opportunities and interactive project charrettes. This year’s event will focus on innovative policy efforts as well as proven design and construction techniques aimed at ensuring long-term affordability and improving living conditions for low-income families across the country.

Scholarships for non-profit staff and public-sector employees to attend the Affordable Housing Summit are available through the generous support of Bank of America, and The Home Depot Foundation, which is a founding sponsor of the USGBC Affordable Housing Initiative. To receive non-profit/public-sector pricing, attendees must first submit an application to USGBC.


Former HUD Secretary Cisneros Headlines Summit

This year’s Residential Summit General Session will feature Henry Cisneros, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under President Clinton. Secretary Cisneros’ work in the cabinet focused in large part on the redevelopment and revitalization of urban public housing developments throughout the U.S. After leaving public office, Secretary Cisneros founded CityView, a real estate investment firm supporting housing and infrastructure in more than 20 cities in 13 states across the country.


Alex Wilson Wins 2nd Annual Hanley Award

Alex WilsonGreen building pioneer Alex Wilson, founder of BuildingGreen LLC in Brattleboro, Vt., was named this year’s recipient of The Hanley Award for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Housing. BuildingGreen publishes industry news online and in print, including Environmental Building News, the GreenSpec Directory, and LEEDuser. Wilson was selected from among 12 distinguished nominees by a panel of judges that included Michael J. Hanley, president of The Hanley Foundation; Frank Anton, CEO of Hanley Wood; Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes; Nate Kredich, vice president of residential market development for the U.S. Green Building Council; and last year’s Hanley Award recipient, Edward Mazria of Architecture 2030.
