Membership Retention Intern
USGBC is a nonprofit member-based organization which provides valuable benefits and services to USGBC national member organizations. National membership is renewed annually and retention efforts occur continuously throughout the year. The USGBC Membership Retention Intern will assist the membership program manager in renewing membership accounts that are expired or are set to expire in the near future. The intern will identify tactics to aid in renewal conversion and provide outreach to lapsed members to determine reason for expire. The intern will assist in transitioning successful outreach efforts into a broader organization-wide campaign supported by our marketing and outbound call team. The membership intern will learn about nonprofit membership operations, customer service, campaign management and tracking.
Internship details include:
- Conduct phone and email outreach to lapsed members
- Track outreach efforts in online database and/or excel files
- Coordinate outreach campaigns involving cross-departmental support
- Identify solutions for member satisfaction
- Develop tactics for outreach and member conversion
- Utilize inter-personal skills to relate to member contacts
Education & trainings requirements/preferences
- Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, undergraduate program required
Experience requirements
- Previous work experience in team/office setting preferred
- Commitment to USGBC’s mission
- General understanding of green building industry and corporate functions related to green building
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organization skills
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to think critically
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Salesforce or online data management software preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
