Apply now for the 2016 School Sustainability Leaders Summit
The Center for Green Schools is hosting the sixth annual School Sustainability Leaders' Summit in conjunction with the Green Schools Conference and Expo in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—marking a shift in location and date from previous years. The summit will be held from March 29-30, 2016, while the conference will run March 31-April 1.
The School Sustainability Leaders’ Summit is the only convening in the country specifically designed for staff of school districts and independent schools who are responsible for system-wide environmental sustainability strategy.
Each year, a small number of attendees are selected through an application-based process. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis until March 1, 2016.
Summit attendees will join the nation’s leaders in school sustainability in sharing strategies for improving resource efficiency, human health and environmental education in U.S. schools and school districts. Attendees will also
- Gain a better understanding of the dynamics of organizational change leadership and how to implement sustainability programs within their school systems.
- Hear from experts in change management theory and discuss best practices to influence decision-making and system culture in their daily work.
- Create strategies for implementing sustainability practices, using the uniqueness of each school system as a foundation.
Content requests gathered through the attendees’ applications inform both the content and the speakers for each topic discussed at the summit. A one-pager can help attendees gain support from district leaders or school administrators.
A limited number of travel stipends are offered to help with transportation and lodging. For more information, contact Anisa Baldwin Metzger.
Participants are encouraged to attend both the summit and the Green Schools Conference. There is no cost to attend the summit, and registration for the Green Schools Conference is not required in order to attend.
