USGBC Hampton Roads is proud to announce that the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach was recently awarded Living Building Challenge certification by the International Living Future Institute.

The Brock Environmental Center was also certified LEED v2009 Platinum in July 2015, and it has myriad sustainable design aspects, from composting toilets to reclaimed materials and a system for conversion of rainwater into drinking water.

The foundation's Hampton Roads regional headquarters has played host to many USGBC Hampton Roads events and has been the topic of local tours and educational sessions. Also, the sustainable contractor for the project, Hourigan Construction, is an annual sponsor of USGBC Hampton Roads.
