Published on Written by Posted in Center for Green Schools

Congressman Jim Matheson, Chair of the Congressional Green Schools Caucus, and the Center for Green Schools recently co-hosted an event on Capitol Hill to honor 4-year colleges and universities highlighted in The Princeton Review’s Guide to 332 Green Colleges: 2014 Edition. The May 8 reception, held in the historic Rayburn House Office Building, brought together more than 100 attendees, including education, advocacy, government, and non-profit leaders.

The event was highlighted by remarks from Congressman Matheson, who spoke about the need for a robust and vibrant green schools movement. Robert Krukovitz, The Princeton Review’s Executive Director for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia, expressed his support for the ongoing collaboration with the Center and the Guide’s value to students, parents, and educators. Chris O’Brien, Director of Sustainability at American University, spoke about his institutions commitment to greening operations as well as commitment, and the significance of being listed among the nation’s greenest colleges for each of the past five years that the guide has been produced.
