Join USGBC Greater Virginia in the Connect the Dots program for Green Apple Day of Service.

USGBC Greater Virginia's Connect the Dots: Green Schools Challenge program challenges schools across Virginia to develop and implement the most creative, effective, no- or low-cost sustainable practices for their schools and communities.

The schools that most effectively meet this challenge are recognized and awarded for their achievements. Participation in the Challenge requires a project submission, due to the community for jury review in November. Schools are also encouraged to participate in the national Green Apple Day of Service. To start a Connect the Dots project, you must register by Green Apple Day, Sept. 24.

Goals of the Connect the Dots program include:

  • Energizing sustainable curriculum in our schools.
  • Lowering school operating maintenance costs.
  • Improving facilities' indoor air quality.
  • Conserving our natural resources while encouraging students to think creatively about sustainability.

For more information, to register your school or to volunteer as a mentor, please visit the Connect the Dots page.
