Meet USGBC: Elle Olszewski

Published on Posted in Community

What's your name and title at USGBC?

Elle Olszewski, Marketing Associate

How long have you worked here?

Since October 2012

How do you get to work?

I take a great walk that helps wake me up - I'm not a morning person!

Your hometown?

Hoffman Estates, Illinois. I usually just say I'm from Chicago but I know 'real' Chicago people get mad about that. Don't get upset, fellow Midwesterners- we can settle it over a deep dish pizza!

Fill in the blank: We are _______________.

Committed! So many USGBC staff members are passionate about our environment. Even if we didn't work for USGBC we would still be involved in the green movement.

Favorite part about working for USGBC?

I have the pleasure of working with some of the most dedicated and creative people - the Marketing department is a great team and I enjoy seeing what we produce every day.

What's your typical day like at USGBC?

I field a lot of our logo and branding queries, so everyday I get to work with people who are promoting LEED and USGBC out in the world somewhere. I also work with our advertising campaigns and enjoy seeing our materials in magazines, newspapers, and online.

If you could be a superhero, who would you be?

Elastigirl! Actually, any of The Incredibles.

Current book on your nightstand?

I'm reading Monster of God, a great book about big predators and how humans and animals can affect each other.

What keeps you awake at night?

I live on a block with both a fire station and a police station. I've never felt as safe or as sleep deprived.

Best piece of advice you've ever received?

Just keep swimming. Dori had it right!
