Mountain West communities launch the Best in the West webinar series for 2017 (USGBC Colorado)
USGBC Colorado will kick off the 2017 Mountain West communities webinar series with an overview of the WELL, SITES and Parksmart rating systems.
As USGBC works to create and expand its global partnerships, local green building communities across the U.S. are exploring new ways to collaborate as a region. In the Mountain West Region, which includes the Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico communities, online education was a common strategy to help deliver GBCI- and AIA-approved content in our expansive states.
These regional communities, along with USGBC Northern California, will come together throughout 2017 to advance the mission of USGBC and explore our unique environmental issues through a “Best in the West” webinar series. The content will focus on a different theme bimonthly.
To start the year off, USGBC Colorado will host a webinar on WELL, SITES and Parksmart called “Rating Soup for the Soul.” The webinar will provide a brief overview of each rating system. The presenters are Clare Epke, WELL Building Standard Assessor; Trevyr Meade, Parksmart; and Jamie Statter, SITES. The webinar will be hosted live on Jan. 24 from 12–1 p.m. MT.
- WELL: The WELL Building Standard is administered by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI), which is a public benefit corporation whose mission is to improve human health and well-being through the built environment.
- Parksmart: Parksmart is the world's only rating system defining and recognizing sustainable practices in parking structure management, programming, design and technology.
- SITES: SITES is a voluntary, third-party-verified rating system recognizing sustainable landscapes.
Each webinar will be free to all individual USGBC community members and $20 to nonmembers. To become a member or renew your membership, sign up and select your community name under “Community details."
The Market Leadership Advisory Board members, regional trends and environmental issues helped the Mountain West communities decide topics. Every webinar will be hosted by a different community and will use WebEx to broadcast the subject matter experts to anyone with an Internet connection.
We look forward to highlighting how communities and individuals across the region are connecting to the content, so join the conversation by using #BestinWest on social media, or send us selfies from wherever you decide to tune in! The Mountain West is a truly unique place and we would love to show off some of the views our community members enjoy every day.
Stay tuned for the announcement revealing the next webinar offerings by following your community’s newsletters and emails or the regional digest.
