Upcoming sunset dates for LEED v2.0/2.2 projects

Published on Written by Posted in LEED

The continuing evolution of LEED plays a key role in how we ensure that LEED remains up to date and a symbol of excellence. As new versions of LEED are released, previous versions are retired or “sunset”—keeping the newest projects paired with the latest and best version of the rating system.

On June 27, 2015, the following rating systems will be closed for certification, or sunset.

  • LEED for New Construction v2.2
  • LEED for Core and Shell v2.0
  • LEED for Commercial Interiors v2.0
  • LEED for Schools v2007
  • LEED for Existing Buildings v2008

To certify a project using one of the above rating systems, you must submit for at least one stage of review prior to that date. After June 27, 2015, we will no longer accept first-time submissions for Design or Standard (Combined) review.

What to do if you can’t meet a deadline:

Things happen, we understand. If you can’t meet a particular deadline, there are a few options.

  1. Upgrade your project to a newer version. Upgrades to LEED v4 are free, and upgrades to LEED 2009 are available for a fee. Contact us to make the switch.
  2. Contact us. Before the deadline, send us the details concerning your project and we’ll explore alternative options.
  3. Do nothing. You also have the option of not doing anything, however, if we don’t hear from you, your project will be deactivated and your project data may not be recoverable.
