USGBC Georgia: Athens Branch
The Athens Branch of USGBC Georgia was formed as a natural outgrowth of the Emerging Green Builders (now Emerging Professionals) Committee that formerly resided at the University of Georgia. A diverse group of people interested in learning more about green building and sustainable design, all members of the Athens community are welcome to join our local Green Scene and attend our meetings and training seminars or other branch events.
We do encourage you to seek membership with USGBC Georgia to ensure you are notified of discounts and opportunities and can take full advantage of membership benefits. Our meetings provide a great opportunity for networking and fun. Our usual mix consists of architects, students, contractors, engineers, property owners, those in "green" professions and many others.
The Branch Leadership Group (BLG) consists of USGBC Georgia members who are leaders in sustainability in the Athens area.
If you are interested in serving in any capacity on one or more of our local branch committees, please email us for more information.
Educational Programs and Events Committee
The Education and Events Committee of the Savannah Branch is responsible for planning all of the branch events, including monthly educational sessions/meetings, credential maintenance programs, lunch-and-learn events, networking and tours. Overall, this committee furthers the mission of USGBC through quality education in the state of Georgia. Participation on this committee is a great opportunity for members to become directly involved as a volunteer for the events that bring our community together for learning, networking and fun.
The Membership Committee of the Athens Branch focuses on ways to grow membership, increase benefits for members and ensure that new members understand how to best participate in their local branch activities.
