Using LEED on Campus: Webcast for NWF's Greenforce Initiative

Published on Written by Posted in Center for Green Schools

The Center for Green Schools and National Wildlife Federation have a growing, synergistic relationship in support of transforming campuses into more resource-efficient communities with curriculum and training to underpin long term change. In particular, NWF’s work with students and their efforts with community colleges has struck a cord with the Center for Green School’s growing work through USGBC Students and Community Green.

I recently had the opportunity to facilitate a Greener Campus Webcast for NWF’s Greenforce Initiative that focused on “Using LEED on Campus: How to Make the Most of Green Building Planning and Implementation.” Joining me were Jordan Sager from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Paul Wolff from Bunker Hill Community College. Jordan eloquently connected the dots between sustainability objectives at the University of California systems level and the institution’s individual goals, objectives, realities and implementation strategies. Paul gave his seasoned perspective on the role of community colleges and how Bunker Hill’s commitment to leadership in environmental stewardship has allowed it to provide hands-on learning experiences for its students that prepare them for 21st century jobs.

Jordan and Paul provided excellent insights into how to help institutions succeed with LEED and sustainability in a number of ways. I encourage you to watch the one-hour archived webcast and to check out NWF’s other information-packed webcasts sometime soon. Thank goodness for examples like these we can follow!
