Chapters

USGBC chapters allow people to join USGBC as individuals rather than organizations. Get involved in your local chapter to connect with green building experts in your area; share strategies, resources, and best practices; tour green building projects; and more.

USGBC affiliates provide local green building resources, education and leadership opportunities.

USGBC organizing groups are groups in the process of becoming chapters.

What Do Chapters Do?

Individuals who want to become involved with green building on a local level can join their USGBC local chapter. Chapters are the local voice of USGBC, and chapter members are key to raising awareness about green building. Chapter membership also provides excellent networking opportunities, the chance to serve on committees, and chapter member-rate discounts on chapter events.

All of our chapters are separate 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. Most chapters hold monthly meetings and/or events for their members, in addition to holding LEED workshops and sometimes LEED User Groups. Contact your local chapter to be placed on that chapter's listserv (e-mail distribution list).

What Does It Cost?

What Does It Cost? Full chapter membership is generally $50 per year, but can vary. Individuals who work for a USGBC National Member company can join the chapter and have the opportunity to sit on the chapter's Board, the Regional Council, and the National Board.

Individuals who work for companies that are not National Members can take an active role by joining as Associate Chapter Members. This is generally $65, but can vary. Associate members can serve on committees, but may not vote or serve on the chapter's board.
