The U.S. Green Building Council Colorado Chapter (USGBC Colorado) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that established in the state of Colorado in 2003. UGBC Colorado was the 15th chapter to be recognized by U.S. Green Building Council and is part of a nationwide network of local chapter’s that all contribute to the mission of transforming the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life

The Colorado Chapter consists of three branches: Northern Colorado, Southern Colorado and Metropolitan Branch. All work towards the goal of the Colorado Chapter to advance and promote sustainable planning, design, construction and operation of the built environment through education, improving industry guidelines, policy, advocacy, and information and resource sharing. ¶Northern Colorado has a passion for sustainability. In the Spring of 2007, some of that passion was harnessed to form the northern Colorado branch (NoCO Branch) of the Colorado Chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The NoCO Branch was the first branch in Colorado. The NoCO Branch includes a steering committee and five sub-committees who are actively working to advance sustainability in Northern Colorado. ¶USGBC Colorado's Northern Branch covers northern Colorado, including the Cities of Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley. The Northern Branch hosts a low or no cost monthly green and grub education series and provides regular networking opportunities for those looking to meet others working to advance green building in our community. ¶The Southern Colorado Branch (SoCo) of the Colorado Chapter of USGBC was formed in the spring of 2008. We are actively working to promote sustainable building practices in our area. Our Steering Committee holds regular meetings in Colorado Springs and is planning many exciting events. We encourage all of the communities of Southern Colorado to get involved with the SoCo branch! ¶USGBC Colorado's Southern Branch covers the south and southeastern part of the state, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Trinidad, La Junta, and Lamar. The Southern Branch hosts a monthly education program and several major events each year, including WinterGreen. ¶In Fall 2008, Metropolitan Branch became the third branch recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council Colorado Chapter. The Metropolitan Branch works to increase community and neighborhood participation in the green building industry by creating smaller networks of communication. Our volunteers actively promote environmentally responsible building practices through education, outreach and collaboration.  We are excited about the future of the Metropolitan Branch and welcome you to join us. ¶USGBC Colorado's Metropolitan Branch covers the Denver Metropolitan area, including the City and County of Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, and Boulder. ¶The Metropolitan Branch hosts a number of regular education and outreach events, including the First Monday REI Speaker Series, and regular brown bag lunches in LoDo and at the Denver Tech Center. In addition, they host several networking events each year, including an annual membership celebration and a drop-in happy hour prior to First Monday REI Speaker Series programs.
