On Saturday, February 25th, 2006, thirteen dedicated USGBC, New Mexico Chapter, members met to develop goals of the chapter for the coming year.  Mia Logan, LTD Unlimited,facilitated this successful, all-day visioning workshop.  The product of this effort was a one-year plan as well as some long-term goals.  Activities were identified for five specific 2006 goals.  These goals are: 1) Membership (207 by 207), 2) Develop a program for Sustainability Week, 2007, 3) Develop a complete 2007 Business Plan, 4) Convene a Coalition Summit to define and develop a legislative plan for 2007, and 5) Expand training and education for the Board and Community.  This plan will direct ou ractivities and ensure continued success for the Chapter.  Thanks to the following members: Susie Marbury, Elena Augustin, Howard Kaplan, Bruce Milne, Rick Lepore, Art Condon,Lisa Logan, James Wernicke, Ruth Wernicke, Robert Mallory, Kerry Abbott, Jack Mizner, and Bill Freimuth.  The complete report will be available here on the website at the end of the month.

What’s Happening

Santa Fe Preparatory School-

Santa Fe Preparatory School is going for silver LEED certification which would make the school the second building in the state of New Mexico to acheive LEED certification. The architect for the project is Spears Architects in Santa Fe, NM and the project contractor is John Rehders General Contractors Inc. Read the in-depth article at New Mexico Business Weekly.

Volunteers Needed-

Our GreenBuilt Tour and Events Committee are actively working on our Events Calendar.  In addition they are preparing for the 7th Annual GreenBuilt Tour in Albuquerque, spring of 2006.  If you would like to join in on the fun, contact James or Ruth Wernicke at greenbuilttour@yahoo.com. Vendors Needed-

A list of perspective vendors is being complied that would be notified of events with marketing opportunities. The events would be sponsored in whole or part by the USGBC. Expamples would be monthly USGBC luncheons, LEED training seminars, Sustainability Week, Green Built Tours, USGBC/AIA seminars and lecture series. If you are interested in having your company's name added to the list, please e-mail your intentions to jkabbott@aol.com. Please indicate if you have an interest in a green products directory. All of these events would be a fee-based opportunity for you to interact with USGBC members. All of the money raised will to the support the USGBC.

We have standing committees on Events, Education, Marketing,and the GreenBuilt Tour.  As an all-volunteer effort we are funded by program fees, sponsorships, and member organization dues.  We are always interested in individuals and organizations that can lend a hand or financial support.
