Emerging Green Builders

Emerging Green Builders Brings Students and Young Professionals to the Triangle Chapter!

The national Emerging Green Builders (EGB) Committee was formed in early 2003 by the USGBC to address the incredible energy held by students and young professionals interested in the green building industry.  Starting with a few national initiatives, the growth has quickly expanded to include over 30 local groups scattered across the country – and has now come to the Triangle!

The Triangle Chapter is excited to announce that a local Emerging Green Builders group is now forming!  This will encourage the integration of students and recent graduates into the Triangle Chapter, encouraging participation and involvement.  EGBers will be able to develop valuable relationships in the field while established professionals can benefit from the energy and enthusiasm of the next generation of green building leaders.  Possible EGB initiatives include lectures, community outreach, LEED Study Groups, green program university development, networking, and more!  We’re gearing up for an official EGB Kick-Off after the first of the year, so stay tuned.

To find out more,  participate in the group,  offer suggestions or would like to join the listserve, contact Traci Rider at traci.rider@gmail.com.

May Triangle EGB Event - Applying LEED principles
Thursday, May 18th, 6.30 pm.

Our next Triangle Emerging Green Builders Event is an exciting opportunity to learn about applying LEED principles to a real building project. We will be holding a 'greening strategy session' on site in a building that the owner would like to sustainability renovate.  We'll learn some history of the building and work with local 'experienced' green builders to help the owner create some goals to make his green dream a reality!

Dinner will be provided, please email Julia at julia@bjac.com if you plan to attend.

Special thanks to Prime Building Company for sponsoring this event!
