The USGBC-OC Chapter’s mission is to engage all Green Building stakeholders to be the conduit of change for a more sustainable Orange County through innovative communication, education, resources and advocacy.
We envision Orange County to be a vibrant place to live, learn, work and play. USGBC-OC promotes the integration of the built and natural environments to foster sustainable, healthy, and prosperous communities. USGBC-OC connects you with people, programs, and resources for green buildings. These benefits apply to commercial office buildings, single family homes, schools, hospitals, community master plans, retail stores and just about everything in between. The Chapter has 500 active members and over 2,800 local people committed to sustainable development, design, and maintenance. The numbers are growing and so are the opportunities to learn and connect. The chapter membership includes architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, planners, facility managers, corporate real estate managers, consultants, scientists, educators, students, and many more professions.
The Chapter organizes regular events, workshops, meet-ups, and study groups to provide numerous opportunities for education and networking. We also support the cities throughout Orange County with advocacy resources to assist with the development of incentive programs, code updates, and community development. Our Emerging Green Builders group engages young professionals to nurture career growth and networking amongst the future sustainability leaders in the OC. Finally, our communications and education teams stay connected with the constant flurry of activity at USGBC National and pass on the highlights with an eye for local impacts. These programs are made possible through the strength of volunteers, and we encourage you to visit our chapter calendar regularly and join a committee or simply help where you can.
The Pacific Regional Council is the interface between the chapters of the USGBC and the Chapter Steering Committee. It is composed of the two representatives from each chapter and in the case of Cascadia, two representatives from each branch are Joseph Marfi and Steve Chaky. The chapters that make up the region include Hawaii, Alaska, Southern British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California. The PRC seeks to connect the efforts of the various chapters in the region and foster effective communication and advocacy.
