The Redwood Empire is a vast region of grass root innovators, the Redwood Empire Chapter spans seven counties including Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte. This unique region is the proud home to internationally recognized, award winning wines of the California Wine Country. The Chapter Mission promotes environmental responsibility, economic vitality, and vibrant healthy lifestyles through education and public awareness; which in turn directly benefits local communities and future generations. Becoming a Chapter Member supports this much needed and worthy mission, while offering a valuable opportunity to LEARN, CONNECT, AND CONTRIBUTE.
The Chapter is named for the coastal region of Northern California where the
Coastal Redwood tree (sequoia sempervirens) is found. Roughly, the Redwood
Empire extends along the Coastal Mountains from just north of San Francisco
to the Oregon border. The Redwood Empire Chapter's territory includes:
Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. In
addition to majestic Redwood forests, the region is known for its wine
production, especially in Sonoma and Napa Counties. The coast along this
stretch of California is some of the most beautiful on the West Coast.
Agriculture is still predominant in most of the region, with much of the
development along the Highway 101 corridor. USGBC's Emerging Green
Professionals (EGP) is a coalition of students and young professionals
promoting the integration of future leaders into the green building movement.
The Redwood Empire Chapter EGP was officially established in the spring of
2005 and functions throughout the Redwood Empire, from Marin County north to
Humboldt County. The EGP Committee has grown swiftly thanks to the dedication
of its founding members, advisors and sponsors.
