The South Carolina Chapter, with representatives from numerous educational, governmental and private industries, strives to uphold and disseminate the goals of the U.S. Green Building Council, while working on a local level to educate the citizens of South Carolina about the benefits of green building and sustainable communities.
The South Carolina Chapter is a statewide, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which operates in four regions of the state. The Chapter works closely with the U.S. Green Building Council and its Chapters across the country to promote green building education. With a vision that buildings and communities in South Carolina will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation, the SC Chapter’s mission is to transform the way buildings and communities in South Carolina are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. The South Carolina Chapter is led by a volunteer board of directors, as well as volunteer steering committees in each of our four branches throughout the state.
The South Carolina Chapter is composed of four branches, each of which serve a geographical region with activities, programs, and opportunities for networking. These four branches are Grand Strand Branch, Lowcountry Branch, Midlands Branch and Upstate Branch.
