The Center for Green Schools at USGBC proudly presents the Green Classroom Professional certificate program. The GCP certificate program provides pre K-12 educators and school staff with the knowledge to identify what supports or impedes healthy, resource-efficient and environmentally sustainable learning spaces.
The course and exam help participants recognize, adopt, and implement practices that keep teachers and students focused, alert and ready to learn.
The certificate is earned through either an online course or an in-person workshop; and a 29-question online concluding exam.
The online course consists of 12 self-guided, interactive modules that allow participants to enter and exit the program on their own schedule within a 60-day window, and takes about two hours to complete. For more information about the online course, please see the GCP Candidate Handbook.
In-person workshops ("group trainings") can be organized by school leaders, green building advocates and practitioners, or anyone interested in empowering schools to improve their learning environments. Green Classroom Professional Group Trainings is a how-to guide for planning and conducting workshops, and describes the process for delivering the content found within the course, but via an in-person setting.
