This course provides an overview of acoustics and green building and demonstrates how important acoustic comfort is to occupants. Buildings are designed, constructed, and operated primarily for the purpose of providing healthy and productive spaces for "People" to work and live. "Acoustic Comfort" means providing an acoustic environment that is conducive to speech intelligibility, speech privacy, low distractions and annoyance, and concentration where appropriate. Current approaches to building design and construction are not meeting the occupants IEQ # Acoustic needs(CBE). This course will guide you through both design practices, guidelines, standards and references that can serve as a roadmap to how to address acoustic needs in closed spaces, open plan spaces, exposed structures, and classrooms.
This course contains an audio overview to guide you through each slide. It also contains optional information links to provide more detail on certain subjects of interest.
