IES offers two days of training. These can be taken together or separately. A brief overview for day 2 is provided below.
AdvancedBuilding Performance & Simulation Analysis using IES: Continued design & analysis using the latest version of the IES building performance analysis software.
Attendees will gain knowledge of various types of building performance analysis, some of which are applicable to various LEED rating systems. There are many IES software #practices and techniques# demonstrated which are necessary for successful and efficient use of these design tools.
This includes Detailed Building Envelope Analysis;Condensation Analysis; ASHRAE Heating and Cooling Loads; Dynamic Thermal Simulation Analysis (Loads, Energy & Carbon); Detailed Occupancy Comfort Analysis (LEED IEQc7.1); Natural/Mixed-mode Ventilation Analysis; Detailed HVAC Sizing & Energy Analysis; Geothermal Analysis with Gaia GLD2010; Modeling of ASHRAE 90.1 PRM HVAC systems & controls (LEED EAc1); ASHRAE 62.1 Increased Ventilation Analysis (LEED IEQc2); Analyze various HVAC systems & with active controls (e.g. Baseline systems and DOAS, UFAD, Active Chilled Beams); Heat exchangers, indirect-evaporative cooling, energy recovery, heat pipes, runaround loops, and desiccant wheels; Advanced Occupancy CFD Comfort analysis for ASHRAE 55 (LEED IEQc7.1).
This course is targeted to architects, engineers, green-building consultants, sustainability consultants and designers. Some previous IES-VE experience is desired but not essential to attend.
