This course focuses on advanced concepts involved in applying Standards 90.1 and 189.1 to achieve High-Performance Building Design. More emphasis will be placed on specific case study examples in this portion of the course in order to help the student go beyon d th e minimum requirements of these standards. Course content should be suitable for architects and engineers.
Objectives
- Develop a plan for producing a high-performance green building.
- Utilize energy simulation as a design tool for decision-making.
- Distinguish between meeting a minimum requirement and achieving optimum performance.
- Apply advanced design methods, concepts, resources and tools to the design process.
- Recognize those building systems that should be optimized and those that should be maximized.
- Explain how building performance extends beyond opening day.
- Design buildings that are capable of measuring and reporting performance.
