The program will highlight the role of architectural concrete as a component of sustainable design. Attendees will learn strategies to use to make concrete more sustainable, how portland cement is made, the environmental impact of making cement (along with st rategies used to reduce that impact), about urban heat islands (specifically highlighting how reflective surfaces can reduce their impacts) and design applications that take advantage of specific sustainable attributes of architectural concrete.
