This course will provide an overview of the commissioning process through each typical stage of construction; design requirements, construction tasks, final commissioning reports and post-occupancy reviews. Continuous commissioning and retro-commissioning activities will also be highlighted. Typically commissioned building systems of focus will include, but are not limited to, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and elevator systems. Additionally, the history and development of the commissioning process, a review and comparison of Commissioning Standards, and Commissioning Authority certification/qualification requirements will be examined.
Design and construction professionals, as well as building owners and facility managers, would benefit from attending this course. Attendeesshould have an understanding of design, construction, and operations of a building, but need no prior knowledge about commissioning.Attendees can expect to learn why buildings and systems are commissioned, the process of commissioning a building, commissioning standards, and proper assignment of commissioning responsibilities for the design, construction, and owner's team.
Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will:
*Have an understand of what Building Commissioning means and why buildings are commissioned.
*Know what a Commissioning Agent does and what qualifications a Commissioning Agent must meet.
*Understand which building systems and components are required to be commissioned by the Commissioning Standards.
*Understand other systems/componentsthe Owner may want to consider for Commissioning.
*Be able to communicate the typical methods for procuring Commissioning Servicesfor a construction project.
*Know the typical components of a commissioning process in each phase of a construction project.
*Have a general understanding of the Retro-Commissioning and Continuous Commissioning process.
*Be able to assign roles and responsibilities for design and construction team members.
*Have reviewed Commissioning Guidelines/Standards and know the differences betweenthese Standards.
