Effective January 1, 2011, CALGreen became the first mandatory state green building code adopted in the country. This presentationw ill present the mandatory requirements and administration for CALGreen and how that compares to the 2009 LEED for New Construct ion R ating System. As both are used simultaneously for many projects, the design, construction and operation industry may be conf used as to how to apply the requirements of both systems. This course will discuss both systems and where they overlap.
Objectives
- Understand the development and structure of CALGreen.
- Explain the mandatory measures of CALGreen and how they relate to LEED for New Construction Rating System.
- Learn about the mandatory versus voluntary CALGreen measures andwhere the code conflicts with the LEED Rating System.
- Identify the key components of CALGreen including the five areas of sustainability in site, water, energy, materials, and indoor air quality.
