This program is designed to provide a fundamental knowledge on translucent material alternatives that are available and used in toda y's interiors. The program illustrates how translucent thermoplastic polymers can be used as aesthetic alternatives to more tra ditio nal materials. Further, the program reviews how polymers are being utilized to remedy key design issues of today: daylighti
Objectives
Participants will be able to identify a number of resin options that can be employed to address performance and aesthetic aspects of countless applications. Participants will be able to recognize the sustainable building and design benefits of using resins. Participants will be able to ascertain how polymers are being utilized to remedy key design issues of today: daylighting, reusable materials, recyclability, energy efficiency, durability and project economics. Participants will be able to analyze the different technical aspects and performance criteria of thermoplastic resins, including: UV resistance, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance. Participants will also have a comprehensive understanding of and be able to identify the limitations that resins can help overcome when designing a project.
