Data Centers use approximately 1.5% to 2% of all US energy. This one hour course outlines every aspect of cabinet enclosures and their role in an energy efficient data center. In addition, the course goes over various areas within the LEED Rating System that can be affected in a positive manner by cabinet enclosures as well as possibly increasing the amount of points on a certified LEED project.
Objectives
- Specify the role an enclosure plays within the data center, with regard to protection & security, power, cooling and cable management.
- Analyze the basic efficiency of enclosure deployment within a data center by identifying enclosure best & worst practices.
- Apply enclosure best practices to maximize the value of existing building infrastructure within the data center space.
-Identify and specify the circumstances within a data center where the right enclosure may meet the criteria for Points in one or more of the credit categories in the LEED 2009 Project Checklist
