Vegetated roofs are literally sprouting up all over North America but hurdles to their widespread acceptance still exist in the United States. Reasons for considering a vegetated roof include various economic, environmental, regulatory and aesthetic needs. Explorethese considerations, hurdles and benefits of specifying and implementing a vegetated roof on projects of any size and location.
1. Discuss the environmental benefits, featuers and design requiremetns of properly functioning vegetated roof systems.
2. Explain how building performance needs and green design intent affect the selection and application of vegetated roof assemblies.
