This course describes and discusses the various methods of airflow measurement technology as
applies to LEED 2009 IEQ Credit 1 # Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring. It includes a discussion
about how standards and codes (i.e., ASHRAE, LEED 2009 and IMC) influence airflow
measurement, ventilation and pressurization of buildings, which technologies are appropriate to
various commercial HVAC applications and how to select the most appropriate technology.
Included in this presentation is a demonstration using a variety of airflow measurement
technologies in various duct applications.
The target audience is specifying mechanical engineers, controls contractors, commissioning
agents, building owners, code officials, test and balance contractors, LEED AP#s, facility managers,
and IEQ professionals.
Objectives
1. Understand the various airflow measurement technologies available for commercial HVAC
applications.
2. Determine which technology is the most appropriate for particular applications within
commercial HVAC systems.
3. Understand the relationship and causal factors between LEED, ASHRAE, and IMC and airflow
measurement.
4. Specify and select airflow measurement equipment.
