This introductory seminar will provide an overview of the characteristics of a site that should be protected versus characteristicst hat make a site ideal for development. It will cover reasons why certain vulnerable sites should be avoided and why the develop mento f others would result in a more sustainable built environment. The lecture will focus on the credits in the Sustainable Site s catego ry of the LEED Green Building Rating System for New Construction and Major Renovations. Within that category, it will foc
- Analyze the reasons why certain sites should be protected from development.
- Identify characteristics of sites wheredevelopment is considered to be more sustainable and applicable to the LEED rating systems.
- Prepare a list demonstrating thepoints toward LEED certification (including exemplary performance) in the LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations, v3 greenbuilding rating system.
- Apply your understanding of protected versus sustainable site characteristics with a green buildingcase study.
