Environmental tobacco smoke control

EQp2 | Possible point

GBCI Reviewer Tip

Common Issue: Schools often provide a school district policy document highlighting the school smoking policy. This alone is insufficient; actual documentation demonstrating the signage system communicating the exterior smoking policy is required, especially because schools often have visitors who may not be aware of the school policies.

Suggestions: Ensure that actual signage documentation is provided confirming the exterior smoking policy. School regulation manuals or other written policies are not sufficient to demonstrate that the smoking policy is communicated to all occupants, including visitors.

Recertification Guidance

Projects should refer to the following credit compliance guidance when planning for recertification. The table outlines the establishment and performance requirements and details the preferred frequency and duration of each performance requirement. Recertification is based on compliance with performance requirements. For the complete set of guidance, refer to the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Recertification Guidance.
