About

Investments in energy efficiency and sustainability have the potential to provide multiple benefits, from improved asset performance to enhanced risk management and, ultimately, a significant increase in property value. But how do you evaluate a project and analyze the potential results of an investment?
Based on Rocky Mountain Institute's groundbreaking work in valuing energy efficiency and sustainability, the courses in this series will show investment real estate professionals how to analyze the financial impact of energy and sustainability retrofits and make a compelling case to move projects forward with owners, investors, clients, and other stakeholders.

These courses were produced in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Institute.

Objectives

  1. Define deep energy and sustainability retrofits, including the costs and benefits of these projects.
  2. Explain how deep retrofit value can be created through risk mitigation, decreased project costs, utility cost savings, and increased property revenues.
  3. Examine how to analyze deep retrofit value through Deep Retrofit Value Methodology.
  4. Identify best practices in presenting the deep retrofit value business case to stakeholders in order to move projects forward.
  5. Calculate deep retrofit value by performing a discounted cash value analysis, to determine how a proposed project will impact a property’s net present value.
