About

In this course we discuss the basics of the GreenStar Program, opportunities in green remodeling, becoming qualified, and how to utilize the program for success.

Many looking for authentic 3rd party verification/certification on their remodels find programs such as LEED for Homes, National Green Building Standard, Green Communities as well as any local state program within the Midwest & North East can be cost prohibitive, require major guts, are exclusive based on membership and/or are lacking any remodeling component.

GreenStar is a residential building standards and certification program that provides geographically oriented programs that are created by professionals and involved persons for the states that they live and operate in.

There is information on GreenStar Professional Training in the Additional Resources section

The presentation was a good over view of the GreenStar regional home rating program. Regional: Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan with interest beginning in the North-East States. It outlines the basic process and procedure for program participation as well as some statistic data regarding consumer’s desire for green home ratings. The course was easy to follow and would be a good beginner course for folks who wanted to learn more about the program. The target audience would be builders (including their major subcontractors), architects and home owners in the applicable region.

Very informative and needed for single family residential, especially remodeling. I would say based on the past decade knowledge of greening, the course more on the beginner level.

The presentation was very informative on this regional program. It is helpful to see some of the avenues a retrofit sustainable program can utilize. I think that the presentation could use one last review for misspellings/inaccuracies/ quirky graphics
