About

The growing popularity of green infrastructure, along with increasing stormwater restoration requirements, has resulted in more funds available for the installation of new and innovative stormwater management practices. Several Baltimore area non-profit groups and non-governmental organizations (NGO) have sought these funds to implement unique and voluntary restoration strategies throughout the mid-Atlantic region. These strategies involve close partnership with local government and the professional design community. Design engineers have been working with a number of NGOs to design, permit and implement various green infrastructure projects. In this presentation, speakers will discuss current and future NGO initiatives and partnerships; talk about the differences working with NGOs and funding organizations vs. traditional developers; share recent project examples; and discuss challenges and lessons learned.

Objectives

  1. Learn how area non-profit organizations are leveraging funding to implement large-scale and wide-spread green-infrastructure projects
  2. Hear about existing grant-funding initiatives and opportunities for green-infrastructure projects
  3. Understand role of public-private-non-profit partnerships in project identification, design, and implementation
