About

Learn from USGBC's LEED subject matter experts and GBCI reviewers as they explore the key concepts in the Materials and Resources credit category of the LEED for Design and Construction rating systems.

Specifically, we'll discuss strategies for construction waste management and building and material reuse, key considerations for the single attributes materials credits, and more. This session is aimed at LEED APs with a working knowledge of a new construction LEED rating system, looking to improve their understanding of the LEED certification process and how to maximize success.

Objectives

  1. Comply with FSC chain of custody requirements for certified wood Consider life cycle thinking approach to building materials selection
  2. Plan material use early in a project to account for existing building material reuse and maximize synergies between credits

The seminar does its job and covers all the bases, although the narration betrays that the presenters are mechanically reading from prepared scripts. The unenthusiastic verbal delivery suggests that most of the presenters might not actually be LEED-AP's -- or if they are, then they are doing a poor job of exhibiting LEED-AP professional demeanor.

This is an excellent overview of the Materials and Resources section of the V3 system. Well organized and complete in its information. Looking forward to this type of program dedicated to the V4 system, especially for this credit category. Providing such a lesson may help to make the transition to V4 and easier one.
