About

Find out how to promote your work to a global audience and help put Canadian practitioners like yourself at the forefront of sustainable development.

In recording of a webinar that occurred on January 30, 2014, you will join Andreea Bejgu, Holcim Canada Awards Coordinator, and Lola Sheppard, Partner at Lateral Office, as they explore several Holcim Award winning project case studies from Canada and around the world that focus on balancing the needs of people, planet and prosperity.

The knowledge shared regarding these projects, their visions and the technologies used, are meant to be transferable to help progress sustainable development globally. This session emphasizes the role that engineers, architects, planners, developers, academics and construction professionals have in creating a more sustainable future. Participants will also learn some key strategies for submitting their own projects for Canadian and international awards.

can anyone help me how to find leed specific courses??

Project Manager, Education Platforms, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Arslan,

Please go to http://www.usgbc.org/education-at-usgbc and check the box on the left that says "LEED Green Associate". This will bring up all LEED specific courses. You can also tell if a course is LEED specific by whether or not is has a LEED Green Associate logo at the top of the page.

Thanks!

This presentation summarizing the Holcim Foundation Awards gives six great examples of sustainable development. The various projects from around the world show how the Holcim Foundation's Target Issues (People, Progress, Planet, Prosperity, and Proficiency) are taken into account for differing community needs. The PDF resources provided are very helpful. The slide progression is a bit off in the recording, so following along with the PDF slides is recommended.

This 1-hr recording of a live presentation, provided by Canadian Green Building Council, gives an excellent overview of the Holcim Foundation Awards for Sustainable Construction, its requirements, and the 5 key target issues that the applicants are assessed against. Currently at its 4th cycle, Holcim Awards competition attracted over 6,000 sustainable construction projects and visions to date from over 152 countries.

Presentation introduces a total of six best-in class examples of sustainable development award winners around the world, each focusing on various key target issues represented by 5Ps: Progress, People, Planet, Prosperity, and Proficiency. With the supplementary information on the submission details and jury insight on the key merits they particularly liked for each submission, the presentation and the www.holcimfoundation.org website itself serve as great global knowledge hub of innovative and inspirational solutions around the world for action and dissemination for local solutions.

Being a live recording, there are couple issues with slide advancements and audio levels; however, when followed alongside the supplementary pdf of the presentation slides, I believe this presentation will truly inspire you to create similarly innovative sustainable construction projects. Also, as a full disclosure, the Foundation, and its award program, is supported by Holcim Limited, a global provider of building materials, but claims to remain independent of its commercial interests.
