Money, learning environment and behavioral outcomes are commonly cited as the three biggest challenges for our schools.

Montana public K-12 school staff and stakeholders are invited to register for the Better Buildings Better Learning training series to explore how well designed and operated school facilities coupled with sustainability curriculum can help solve these challenges.

Ryder Delaloye and Chad Smith from the Whitefish School District will conduct a free, four-part training series for facilities managers, administrators, educators and stakeholders. The series provides an overview of how sustainable practices through a whole-school approach can lead to healthy, safe, and successful students while creating resource-efficient schools.

Participants will learn about LEED, green schools principles, how those principles positively impact student outcomes and how to create whole school collaboration to achieve your school building's and students' optimal performance.

Training dates

  • Session One: June 22 from 1-4 p.m. — "Whole-school Approach to Sustainability: building positive behavioral support programs for community and environmental stewardship" | Montana Behavioral Initiative conference session in Bozeman, Montana
  • Session Two through Four: Fall 2017 — Dates will be announced. The online trainings will provide a closer examination of school facilities and sustainability curriculum can be leveraged to create healthy, and successful students and resource-efficient schools as well as case studies from successful schools.
