USGBC Minnesota is in its third year of supporting local nonprofit developers who are rehabbing and restoring foreclosed or abandoned homes in the Twin Cities.
Dynamic Green Home Version 4 is being developed by PPL. Sean McGloughlin, who has created a nonprofit with the goal of building Zero-Carbon homes, will serve as general contractor.
This turn-of-the-century brick home is in the heart of the Green Homes North initiative. A new porch, deck and garage will be installed at the home. The garage will hold solar panels, and the home will be insulated and air sealed to very high specs.
Please note that you only can register for one position.
- Volunteer Management: Around 2-4 volunteers are needed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to lead volunteer teams from Accenture. Workscope will include: laying deck boards on existing frame, interior painting, basement waterproofing. You role will be to organize your team, keep them motivated and supplied with the tools and materials to finish their task. USGBC provides all the tools and materials, but we'll need your help staging them, and cleaning up.
- Garage Building (8 a.m.-4 p.m.): Join a small crew of professionals as they frame and raise a garage. This will be a full day of framing, moving and staging materials, making sawdust and nail gunning. You should have general worksite experience and be able to lift 50-plus pounds, climb ladders, and handle power equipment. Around 5-10 volunteers are needed.
