There are over 350,000 plug-in vehicles (PEVs) driving on U.S. roads every day, and the sales numbers are increasing every month. In Minnesota, 3000 PEV owners will drive over 20 million gas-free miles this year. Owners will charge their PEVs mainly at home, so new residential developments should be built to be PEV charging ready.

Many vehicle owners also will charge their cars at their workplaces, so charging infrastructure will also be needed at commercial real estate properties. Many developers and property owners here in Minnesota are already adding PEV charging infrastructure to their properties to future-proof new developments.

This presentation will provide information on plug-in vehicles, PEV charging choices, LEED v4 Credit 8 requirements and how all this can be integrated in multi-housing and commercial real estate properties. We will also look at some real-life examples of installations here in Minnesota, and you will receive practical tools to help you with the planning process.
