Join USGBC North Carolina for a Aug. 3 tour of the Berryhill Elementary School in Charlotte.

The tour will cover the LEED project team's goals, strategies and tactics used in transforming the school into a more sustainable learning environment for students.

We'll identify the school's sustainability goals and how they were integrated into the design. The tour also will cover:

  • strategies and tactics used to meet environmental targets, such as waste diversion, recycled materials, regional materials, low-emitting materials, water-reduction
  • fixtures, energy-saving fixtures and IAQ strategies during and after construction.
  • project challenges and how the team solved them.
  • lessons learned by architect, LEED Project Specialist and a representative from the Charlotte Housing Authority

We'll also discuss how the school has used the building as a teaching tool not only in the curriculum but to all stakeholders involved. Questions will be received by tour guide(s) with networking to follow.

Join us after the tour for our monthly Emerging Professionals committee meeting.
