This event is free to registrants thanks to the generous sponsorship of Mohawk. Join us for a bus tour to one of Earth's Greenest Buildings and earn several GBCI CE's along the way.

Join us for a tour of Phipps Conservatory and botanical gardens, as well as a visit to the SEED Classroom. Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens' Welcome Center, a structure designed to meaningfully reflect our deep commitment to connecting people with plants and healing the Earth, provided us with the perfect opportunity to spread the word about the importance of conservation and create future change...[all while] preserving this classic example of Victorian architecture.

A world leader in sustainable innovation, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is one of 8 buildings to achieve the Living Building Challenge™ for its Center for Sustainable Landscapes (CSL), a facility that houses groundbreaking sustainability research and science education programs, and serves as a key part of the public garden's immersive visitor experience. In producing all of its own renewable energy, and treating and reusing all water captured on site, the CSL demonstrates the benefits of humanity living in harmony with nature.

The CSL is the first and only project to attain the planet's highest sustainable building certifications:

  • Living Building Challenge, the world's most rigorous green building standard
  • LEED® Platinum — tied for the highest points awarded under version 2.2
  • First and only Four Stars Sustainable SITES Initiative™ (SITES™) for landscapes project (pilot)
  • First and only WELL Building Platinum project (pilot)

The SEED (Sustainable Education Every Day) classroom was created to provide a healthy, sustainable learning environment for children. It was built to the Living Building Challenge Standards and has green features such as:

  • Recycles water onsite
  • Non-toxic materials
  • Produces own energy
